Happy Birthday Prettie Jodi!

It's another Prettie Birthday Blog Hop, and today we're honoring the amazing Jodi Collins (AKA Karmagirl) Jodi is an amazing papercrafting goddess, and a former Dirty Girl! We've been so lucky to have her as part of our design team...because not only is she amazingly talented, she's super sweet as well! If you're just joining the hop, be sure to go back to Christie's blog where the fun began!

For today's party I signed up to bring the streamers. And with that in mind, I thought it might be fun to make one of those cool Spiral Pop-up Cards! For the card front I thought our devastatingly adorable Wade E. Bug would be perfect, with Happy Birthday surrounded by bling, kindof like being up in lights to match our show-stopping Wade.

For the inside, I punched some flowers with old SU! flower punches and layered them, adding a little twinkle to the center of each, and I attached them to my "streamers" or spirals. Finally, I hand-wrote the sentiment at the bottom using Spica glitter pens, sticking with the Broadway theme of the card it reads: "I hope EVERYTHING is coming up ROSES on your day!"

Please be sure to go on to Danielle's blog for the next card on this adventure, and we'll send you at Jodi's blog so you can be sure to wish her a happy birthday!!

Forgotten Card...

I thought I'd post this card I made before Jack was born for a swap I did. I never had a chance to post it...so you all get to see it now (since I still haven't gotten any more stamping done yet!)

I used my Winter Post set (which I LOVE) along with some Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla cardstocks. I sponged all the layers, used my scallope edge punch for the top and some new SU! ribbon along with the awesome felt snowflakes from the Winter SU! mini.

It's been a busy weekend here getting everything decorated for Christmas, but I finally managed to finish decorating our tree and the interior of the house. Our annual cookie swap is next weekend so I have to make sure the house is ready. :-)

I'm also getting some Blog Bon-Bon's ready soon. I have a few duplicate stamp sets here so once I sort through and figure out which ones, I'll post it here!

I hope you all have a wonderful week - and I'll try to be back again soon!

PJ Party Challenge 2

Wow...2 in a row! Amazing huh?? Last night I finally got a chance to finish up the card I started Monday night for the second challenge for the SIYJ party that night. I was really inspired by Charlie's card here that she made for her daughter. I remember how much Julia loves spinner cards, and thought it would be fun to make one with our cute little Ice Skating Sophia - January's Stamp of the Month! (To get her before everyone else, be sure to sign up for the Stamp of the Month Club before the end of December...otherwise you have to wait until February 1st to order this little cutie!!)

I started by stamping Sohpia on some watercolor paper and coloring her in with reinkers and an aquapainter before cutting her out. I then added some stickles to her cape, used my sakura clear glitter pen on her skates, and some liquid applique for her muffs. I then put her aside to dry.

Next, I assembled the card itself. I used some designer paper from the SU! Holiday Happenings hostess bundle for the background. I adhered it to a slightly smaller piece of cardstock to give it some more strength. Then, I punched 2 holes with the Word Window punch, one from the top and one from the bottom. Next, I connected them using the punched out pieces as a guide for my craft knife...this made a little Z for Sophia to skate along. Before adhering my pennies on either side of the snowflake piece with a dimensional I stamped the greeting, then added lots of dimensionals to the back to stick it to my Pink Pirouette base. Finally I Stock Sophia on the top penny with one more dimensional, and moved her along!

I had forgotten how much I like making penny cards. Julia's 3rd birthday invitations were penny cards, and she loved them...so I know she'll love this one! Later this week I'll show you the card SHE made with this set on Monday night during the party...it's another beautiful Julia Original!

Oh...and if you haven't checked out our new Paper Pretties blog, written by none other than the Amazing Jodi Collins, be sure you do! On Tuesdays she does a great article highlighting some of the products from the boutique, and this week you can get Angel Wings Sophia on sale!

Have a wonderful day!

PJ Party Goodness

WOW! I can't believe I haven't posted anything here in over a month. I'm so sorry everyone. Jackson came home 3.5 weeks ago, and life has been even more insane, if that's possible. But, he's been doing great - growing really well and is almost 8.5 pounds and we still haven't gotten to his due date yet. :-)

So, needless to say I really haven't been stamping much. But yesterday the Prettie Girls had a Stamping In Your Pajamas party, and I couldn't miss out on all the fun. I managed to get one card made yesterday while Jack slept and Julia was at school. Charmaine came up with some great challenges this time, and this card was for her pink, blue and white challenge.

I started with this adorable snow angel Sophia from Snowflake Kisses (now available in RUBBER!) stamped on watercolor paper with brilliance black ink. I colored her in with my aquapainter and watercolor crayons, then clipped the corners with my ticket corner punch. Next, I took a 5.25 by 10.5" piece of Bashful Blue cardstock and folded it in half. I cut a piece of DSP from a retired Christmas-y Simply Scrappin' kit from SU!, wrapped some wide Pink Pirouette grosgrain around it, then tied on the Bashful Blue tafetta before adhering it all to the cardbase.

Next, I added the Pink Pirouette cardstock under both layers of ribbon, stuck the large snowflake die-cut from the SS kit on, and popped Sophia up on top of them all. Then, I stamped the greeting with Night of Navy ink. Lastly, I added some stickles - waterfall to the snow edges, and crystal to Sophia's hat and boots. You can see them much better in this detail shot.

This is still one of my favorite Paper Pretties sets almost one whole year later...I just love snow angels! Although, the January SOTM (Stamp of the Month) is right up there too! I started a card for the second challenge (a project for a child) using that stamp last night, and hope to finish it today. Oh, and by the way...if you haven't been to the boutique for a while you've GOTTA go!! Almost everything in there is 75% off right now because Christie is moving and doesn't want to move all her stock. So...what better place to find some great Christmas gift for all your stamping and scrapping friends, at a GREAT price!!!

Thanks for checking in with my after my long silence. I can't promise daily posts yet, but will try to get a few things per week up here. I've missed this for too long! If you're interested, I've added a photo of my Sophia and Cooper (Julia and Jackson) at the end of this post. Have a wonderful day!

Stamping for Baby Jack

Ok, so I finally stamped something. Of course, it woudl have to be a baby onesie for little Jackson!! I got some organic cotton Gerber premie size onesies in white specifically so I could stamp on them, and hadn't taken the time until this week. I used SU! craft ink (Not Quite Navy and Old Olive) along with the Big Deal alphabet and Wild about You stamp sets. I just love how it turned out. I made 3 in all, and will show you the others as he wears them!

Hope everyone is well...and I hope to get my life back to normal by bringing little Jackson home in the next few weeks, and therefore be able to stamp again! In the mean time, check out the blogs of all the Prettie Girls for some sneak peeks of some ADORABLE new sets being released on November 1st (Saturday night) at a fun filled Prettie Stamping In Your Pajamas party!!

Thanks for checking in!!

My little Pumpkin...

Ok...so I said this baby was going to look just like Cooper! It might take him a little while to fill out and get those Cooper-esque chunky cheeks...but could he be any cuter??

Here's a project for you all! I made this for the Stamping in your PJ's party on the first, and just loved playing with this new little Cooper from Pick of the Patch which is available now in the Paper Pretties Boutique in cling mounted RUBBER!! WOOHOO!!! I think he's the cutest one yet! It's just a quick little tag, and Coop is colored in with my aquapainter and watercolor crayons. I'm starting to get into those again (or at least I was before my stamping hiatus began on Friday) And the cardstock is Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Very quick update...

The blurfers are getting this first...because it's easier for me to post here than compose and send an email!

I just got home from the hospital. Our son Jackson Philip Weaver was born Friday night at 8:20pm and weighed 4 pounds 2.5 ounces, 16 inches long. He was only 9 weeks early (compared to his big sister's 13 weeks) and is doing quite well comparatively. We still anticipate he'll be in the hospital for a minimum of 4 weeks, more likely 6-8.

So...I'm taking a brief hiatus here. I will probably have another blog to track Jackson's progress for family and friends, but will only be posting sporadically here as my life just got a heck of a lot busier.

Thanks for all your support!

PJ Party Fun

I had a great time at the Paper Pretties Stamping in your Pajamas party last night. I managed to finish projects for 2 of the 3 challenges...and will have to try to finish up the middle one (a color challenge) tomorrow perhaps.

This project was created for the first challenge - try a technique you've never done before. One I've been wanting to try is where you put ink on your Cuddlebug embossing folder before putting in the cardstock. I put some old olive ink on the folder then put in my certainly celery cardstock to emboss. Isn't this new tree folder awesome??? I colored in Sophia with my aquapainter and watercolor crayons and then cut her out and popped her on to the tree. I then added some stickles for maximum glitter.

The certainly celery is layered on some Rose Red, which is then layered onto the Old Olive card. And can you believe I don't have any ribbon on here?? I can't!! Of course, I may go back and add some since it's looking a little bare to me now.

This Sophia is Trim the Tree Sophia, and she's the November Stamp of the Month. Isn't she adorable? If you sign up for the SOTM club anytime before October 31st, you'll get her in November ahead of everyone else. For the rest of you...she'll be available to order starting December 1st.

And speaking of the Prettie Boutique, Christie announced a wonderful sale last night in honor of her grandmother, a breast cancer survivor. All things pink in the store are now 40% off!! No need for a coupon code, just go straight to the sale section and the prices are already marked down. Have fun shopping!!

Prettie Wednesday Inspired!

Howdy folks. I'm finally back with today's Prettie Wednesday card. 2 Weeks ago Jessie challenged us to be inspired. Since I was doing this last minute (been fighting off a nasty cold the last two days and have had ZERO energy!) I looked up and remembered this beautiful leaf art I have hanging in my dining area (right near my computer) It's this amazing artwork by Booker Morey. This piece here is quite similar to the one I have.

I decided to use Falling for You Sophia since she is now available to purchase in the boutique (as of this evening) and she's perfect with these lovely fall colors!

I stamped her in Brilliance black ink on Stamper's Select white and then colored her in with my SU! markers. I stamped the leaves in the background with Pumpkin Pie ink on Pumpkin Pie paper, and then stamped the greeting with Chocolate Chip ink. I tied some hemp around that layer before popping my Old Olive layered Sophia on top and then adding the silk leaves. All that was then popped onto the chocolate chip card.

The PJ Party tonight has been fun...and you can look for some more fun sneaks of the newest stamps we've got coming out here over the next several days. You're gonna LOVE em!!!

There's a leopard stalking Halloween...

Ok, is this not the cutest stamp? I have more cute ones to show you...but not yet. For now, we'll have to be happy with Whiskers, Paper Pretties' latest Sophia to be released. She's available on the Paper Pretties website NOW.

Since Julia is going to be a leopard for Halloween this year, I just had to dress Sophia up as one as well. Don't you love that leopard print paper? I had it in my stash and need to find some additional animal print papers to cover letters for Julia's Jungle themed bedroom. Don't worry, I'll show you those when I'm done!!

Back to the card, I knew the leopard print paper was too big to paper piece with, so I colored the spots on by hand with a black pencil after coloring and blending the rest of Sophia with my Prismacolor pencils and OMS. Didn't she turn out adorable?? I added a little black organdy ribbon to go with her bow, and punched the greeting out with my word window punch (thank goodness THAT didn't get lost in the move!)

It is a nice and simple layout, but I like those...especially when you have such a fun image to work with! October 1st is coming up fast, and us Prettie Girls like to party on the first of the month. October is no exception, and we'll be stamping in our Jammies on Wednesday night from 8-11pm Eastern time (that's 5 to 8 for us West coasters!) in the Paper Pretties Forum. We'll have wonderful challenges along with prizes, and tons of fun! And this time...my computer is hardwired so I should be here typing as fast as my fingers can go that evening! :-) Oh yeah...and right now Christie has a sale in the boutique - 50% off all designer paper, just use the coupon code "dp" when you check out! How cool is that?!?! Have fun shopping!

Stamp Club Fun

So, now that I'm back in the States I can once again start working on my Stampin' Up! business. When I moved, I handed my stamping club off to my friend and downline Michelle. She has kept that group going for 2 years, and now that I"m back, we're sharing the group while we work to build up new ones in addition. So, for our first shared club, Michelle and I each prepared a project for the ladies to make 2 of.

I first saw the cris-cross pocket card using the pennant die on Patty Bennet's blog, and loved the idea. To the right here is the sample I made for the ladies to follow using 2 large pennants cut from the Bella Rose DSP. However, when I did this I wasn't thinking about the fact that they would be making 2 - requiring a lot more DSP.

The night of club, everyone got to choose 2 different half sheets of the Bella Rose DSP to cut at the same time with the die. We had a discussion as to how to place the papers on the die to get the opposite patterns (one each side of a double-sided paper) in the same size pennant. Long story short...I messed up! I had 2 large pennants going the same way...so they weren't going to work together. One of my club members was playing around with the pieces we had cut out and we came up with the brilliant plan of using a large and small penant together! And so, the cards below were born.

We used one of the scalloped circles that gets cut with the pennant die, and then we used the new Curly Label Punch Bundle to stamp the greeting and punch it out. Some Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon finished off the pocket portion, and the inside card was made with Pink Pirouette paper and the Totally Tabs set along with the rounded tab punch.

So, to borrow a phrase from one of my favorite Painting shows, there are no mistakes, just happy little accidents that you can turn into something wonderful! :-)

I plan on stamping tomorrow (Saturday) and hope to have some fun new things to show you this weekend. Have a great one!!

Prettie Wednesday Monochromatic

So 2 weeks ago (well, actually just over a week ago because I was late as usual!) I challenged the Prettie Girls to make a monochromatic card. A TRULY monochromatic card using only white (or vanilla) black, and shades of 1 color. I said brown did NOT count as a neutral for this one.

I love monochromatic cards, because it makes things kind of easy. You only have to worry about 1 color, right? That said, I wanted to use Angel Wings Sophia - did I even tell you last time that she's the October Stamp of the Month?? I know everyone is loving her, and if you don't want to have to wait until November to get her, you should go sign up for the Stamp of the Month club NOW, before the end of this month!!!

So, I wanted to use Angel Wings Sophia but not traditional angel colors (like blue, white, or silver/gold) so I was playing around and decided that plum would be perfect for her! She's stamped on Stamper's Select White and colored in with my SU! markers. I then had to add some glitter to her wings and stickles to her trim...because she needs to shine! She's layered on Basic Black and then Pale Plum. The Perfect Plum base was stamped with the SU! Bella Toile backgrounder in the same color. I added some ribbon on the side...and then was digging through my other Paper Pretties stamps to find an appropriate greeting and I came across my Falling For You Sophia (she's going to be released on October 1st to those of you not in the SOTM Club) and thought this sentiment would be PERFECT with my little purple angel! ;-) I thought about adding some little devil horns to her, but she looks too cute the way she is - although it would make her more appropriate to represent my daughter that way!

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my last post everyone...glad you all think the tummy is cute. I think I'm over it now and am just getting uncomfortable. Just over 10 weeks to go though, so I think I'll make it.

Have a wonderful day! Oh...and go check out what all the other Prettie Girls have done with the monochromatic challenge this week...I'm heading out to right now!

Spooktacular!

It's been a good, but hectic weekend here. There was no school on Friday, so we went to Santa Cruz and enjoyed a lovely day at the beach with friends. I've included a few photos at the end of this post for those who are interested...including a "belly shot." I'm now 29 weeks, so just 11 more to go - woo hoo!!

Here's a card I made a week or so ago with my friend Michelle. I started the card at her house (since it is her stamp set!) and just embossed the main image with black detail embossing powder on glossy white. After getting home, I colored in the windows and grave stones, then went over them and the moon with my versamarker and embossed with clear embossing powder. Next, I sponged on the color - Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, and Night of Navy. I used some of the new SU! Halloween DSP (which I LOVE) for the background, and I embossed the greeting (from the set I have - TAbleau of Terror) with black on Old Olive. Can I just say, I love this card! I hope you all do too!!

Another late Prettie Wednesday Post

Ok, I've really got to get better about this. The good news is the internet cable for my computer arrived today so this weekend my husband can drill a hole in the wall and my desktop system can be hardwired to the router out at my desk, which should hopefully make computer time a little more convenient!
Here is my Prettie Wednesday challenge card. Charmaine challenged us all to make an ATC, so I made one with the newest Angel Sophia! Isn't she just darling?? She's on Stamper's Select White and colored her with my prismacolor pencils (she has silver gown on) before outlining her with my B00 copic marker. Then, I added lots of dazzling diamonds to her wings, and some pearly stickles to the hem of her gown. She's layered a few times onto Basic Black first, then Cool Caribbean (still got a few sheets of that one left) and finally onto Going Gray. I'm not very good with ATC's, and never know what to do with them, so for this one I punched a hole in the top and fed some silver cord through before adhereing a small silver organdy bow. Now she's ready to be hung on a Christmas tree!! Look below and you can see I also made a little card with some Shimmery White cardstock and a cuttlebug embossing folder to send her in.
Thanks everyone for checking in...I have lots of projects to share, just need to carve some computer time now!

Some SU! stuff!

I hope I can get myself into a routine here pretty soon, because I miss you all! My google reader is back up to 472 unread posts...OMG!! Seems like I never have time on my computer anymore - I spend it all trying to sleep! On that note, everything is going well. Baby is still inside and we're now a full week past the point where Julia was born! We're at B-83 and counting. :-)

I thought I'd show you one of the cards I recently made with some new SU! stamps. Now that I'm back in the states, I'm lovin' all my new SU! stuff again!! And hey, hopefully soon I'll actually send a newsletter out to all my old customers and see if any of them are interested in getting back into this with me! I've really missed teaching classes, and my new house is PERFECT for them!

I made this card using the new Upsy Daisy set borrowed from my friend Michelle. I embossed the daisies with black detail embossing powder on glossy white cardstock, then I brayered on Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point inks. Lastly, I sponged some black around the edges. I layered this onto pink pirouette cardstock and basic black. The card base is Pacific Point with the Polka Dot backgrounder stamped in the same color. I used the new scallop edge punch to scallop one side of a strip of pink pirouette and attached that, then tied some white taffeta ribbon around the edge. I attached the focal piece and Voila! Finished card. I didn't include a sentiment on this one, preferring to save it and include one on the inside later when I'm ready to send it to someone.

I have 2 more of these embossed images, so I think I'll try something similar with different colors and layout. Watch for those to come in the next week or 2. I have a few more already completed which I'll continue to share with you throughout the week!

Thanks for checking in!

Prettie Wednesday, a day late!

Sorry folks that I'm so late! My computer was NOT behaving yesterday, so finally last night my husband moved it into the office closer to the wireless router - now it seems to work a little better! So, I'm just now uploading the card that I did manage to get made yesterday while Julia was at kindergarten - woohoo!!

Jules challenged us all 2 weeks ago to make a shaped card, but it couldn't be square, or circular, or some regular shape. If you haven't seen the beautiful creations of all the other Prettie Girls you need to check them out, because they are all much more creative than me! I just cheated and made a card with my new Big Shot and the SU! Top Note die. I placed the fold of my Pacific Point cardstock so that I could create a folding card. Then, I diecut a piece of Stamper's Select White (finally cleared the pile from my desk and found that!) and cut it out around the perforrated line. I stamped this wonderful little surfing Snowflake and colored him in with my prismacolors. Lastly, I added the felt flowers because they seemed Hawaii-ish and the colors matched pretty well.

For the sentiment, I gently curved the acrylic before placing it on my block so it would curve around the wave some - cool, huh???

I hope you all are having a wonderful day, and I hope to be back tomorrow with another project I created yesterday. :-)
